The controls for the heat/AC and defrost are easy to reach and super simple to use. you could haul some lengths of wood around). It is also nice that the front passenger seat can fold as flat as the back seats for even more cargo space (so hey. If you need to haul two large beasts, like my mastiff and lab/shep mix, they both fit comfortably with the seats folded down. Plenty of room for groceries without folding the seats down. There is ample head room for those over 6 ft, like myself. why are you looking at a compact SUV? Get that hummer you had your eye on. Storgae space? Again, if your trying to haul wood on a regular basis or have need of that pole vault pole all the time. The AWD holds the road fine in snow and ice, as this Montana guy can atest. Not bad if your looking to pass that semi. At 60 MPH, I floored the gas and kicked the turbo enine in to hit 70 MPH in under another 3 seconds. So again, don't understand the complaining about power in this vehicle. When starting from 0, I can get to 60 mph in under 7 seconds. This little bugger has a tight turn radius (able to do a U turn in a 2 lane road without touching the curb). You are listening to a past pizza delivery guy. The sound system is crisp as is the mic for the calling aspect. I have read previous people complaining about losing blue tooth connection, but my phone connects from 50 feet away and doesn't ever drop, to date. The info system is easy to connect to your phone. but hey, you adjust! Tech inside is very nice. I wish instead of having the four up front, they would have done the two with a combined middle arm rest with storage bin inside that. There is storage cubbies all over the interior, though I do not understand the space between the seats having 4 cup holders and then 2 more in the back seat arm rest. Like I said, I am a big guy, the seat belt fits fine, the seat doesn't hit pressure points that cause me to ache when driving 2+hrs. Pros: for a SMALL SUV, this vehicle makes use of every inch. So, here is my experience and opinion so far. I am not sure what kind of acceleration people are … looking for or why in God's name they think they need to get to 60mph in under 4 seconds. To be fair, I just bought this car with 8 miles on it a few days ago and so have been "playing" in it. I bought a compact SUV for goodness sake and I know it. Leg room in the back seat is tight, but hey. I fit behind the wheel easily and find the seats comfortable. Actual mileage may vary with driving conditions – use for comparison only.Look, I am a large guy and a family man. **2018 EPA Fuel Economy Estimate 31 city / 36 highway / 33 combined MPG. The thing distinguishing DeepPrime XD from DeepPrime (or rather: PL6 from PL5, because in PL6 the slider is there for both DeepPrime and DeepPrime XD) is the addition of a slider ("Rauschmodell", translates to "noise model") to decide how much noise you are willing to exchange for more sharpness. Here are some samples, utilizing both DeepPrime XD at "magic wand" default levels and the Wide Gamut (K-3 at ISOs 5000, 4000, 2000, and 500, respectively, all processed to taste you can view full-res JPEGs on my SmugMug website by clicking on the samples): I will upgrade from PL5 as soon as my budget allows, although I'm hoping to get a slightly better deal when my trial expires or in the Black Friday sales. I did notice that with some images I will have to use the "Protect saturated colours" slider a bit more to avoid colour clipping, but the results still look better than before. Encouraged by SmugMug's recent announcement that they now retain wider colour spaces of uploaded images, I also gave the DxO Wide Gamut a try, which indeed leads to richer, more natural-looking colours on my BenQ SW2700 when I switch it to AdobeRGB. Played around fairly extensively with the trial version of PL6 and came away quite impressed with the DeepPrime XD noise reduction, which is significantly more effective in removing noise than the regular DeepPrime and also better at retaining meaningful detail. What are your thoughts, will you upgrade or even get it new (209€ for the PL6 Elite version is steep though!)? ViewPoint 4 seems even less enticing when you already have version 3. "Expanded working colour gamut for increased accuracy" and Soft Proofing - don't think I would benefit from that in a significant way. The ReTouch Tool looks nice, but I can achieve what I want within FastStone I will probably have a look at the test version though. I don't think I need more or better than what DeepPrime already offers. So if that stays true for the next major version, I will probably upgrade then. I currently have PL5 Elite and could upgrade for 99€. The reply from Steven (DXO) seems to indicate the Windows version is trailing behind Mac and I presume we need to wait on catchup.Just launched. My request basically is to obtain parity with the Mac version where an option bar does appear on selecting Local Adjustments. The result is you cannot just use a quick mouse click or tablet pen to select. However on selecting Local Adjustments no option bar appears and consequently you are forced to use key strokes to trigger - Add Control Points, Protect an area or Show/ Hide/Enable/Disable/Duplicate/Invert/Delete Masks. I will try to clarify the issue: In the Windows version when you select from the Command Bar any of the following Crop, White Balance, Horizon, Perspective options, Repair, Read Eye or Miniature Effect what appears either just above the Image Browser or just below the Command Bar are various options pertaining to the selection made. Hi John, Yes I’m well aware of the Workspace pallete however the Local Adjustments options are not available here. However, It is unclear when updates to the Windows version to resolve any of these differences will be implemented. on DXO’s staff has indicated on a few occasions that these differences will eventually be addressed. There are a significant number of differences between the Mac and Windows versions of PhotoLab… Many of them are at least partly cosmetic, and some are features differences that affect the workflow. Maybe this oversight will be included in the next minor update … here’s hoping. Just why this tool bar is omitted is a mystery as a tool bar is designed in for Crop, Horizon, Red Eye & DXO Viewpoint, etc.Īnother omission occurs in the floating ‘Local Adjustments Panel’ where Automask, Brush, Graduated Filter & Control Point appear on the Mac version but again unavailable to Windows users. Whether using mouse or tablet the missing tool bar is far from conducive to a seemless workflow. When I contacted support I was directed to the non-floating pop-up activated via the Radial menu (?) which provides info on the short keys required to activate the above functions. Sadly this tool bar does not appear in the Windows version. Activating ‘Local Adjustments’ on the Mac version triggers a lower tool bar containing the following: Control Points (+/-), Show masks, New mask, Reset & Close. I was hoping for inclusion in Photolab 4. I make no apology for the following request previously submiitted on 30th January.

In Dresden, he visited the Kunstkammer ( Cabinet of curiosities) of Prince Elector August von Sachsen. In 1629, many decades before clockmaking was established in the Black Forest, an Augsburg merchant by the name of Philipp Hainhofer (1578–1647) penned one of the first known descriptions of a modern cuckoo clock. Here, the weights and pendulum are purely ornamental as the clock is driven by battery power. The pendulum bob is often another carved leaf. On quartz wall clocks in the traditional style, the weights are conventionally cast in the shape of pine cones made of plastic rather than iron. Whether this is controlled by a light sensor or pre-programmed, the function is referred to as a "night silence" feature. Others are pre-programmed not to strike between a set of pre-determined hours. Uniquely, quartz cuckoo clocks often include a sensor, so that when the lights are turned off at night they automatically silence the hourly chime. Some musical quartz clocks in the chalet style also reproduce many of the popular automata found on mechanical musical clocks, such as beer drinkers, wood-choppers, and jumping deer. In musical versions, the hourly chime is followed by the replay of one of twelve popular melodies (one for each hour). In quartz cuckoos, different systems have been used to produce the bird's call the usual bellows, a digital recording of a real cuckoo in the wild (with a corresponding echo accompanied by the sound of a waterfall and other birds in the background) or a recording of the bird's call only. The movement of the cuckoo in such clocks is regulated by an electromagnet that pulses on and off, attracting a weight, that acts as a fulcrum, connected to the tail of the plastic cuckoo, thus moving the bird up and down in its enclosure. Just before the call, and in case it has a door, the single or double door opens and the bird emerges as usual, but only on the full hour, and they do not have a gong wire chime. As with their mechanical counterparts, the cuckoo bird emerges from its enclosure and moves up and down, but often on the quartz timepieces it also flaps its wings and open its beak while it sings. Since the 1970s, quartz battery-powered cuckoo clocks have become available. The clock's movement activates the bellows to send a puff of air into each pipe alternately when the timekeeper strikes. The weights are made of cast iron usually in a pine cone shape and the "cuckoo" sound is created by two tiny gedackt pipes in the clock, with bellows attached to their tops. Today's cuckoo clocks are almost always weight driven. Musical cuckoo clocks frequently have other automata which move when the music box plays. Usually the melody sounds only at full hours in eight-day clocks and both at full and half hours in the one-day timepieces. Some have musical devices, and play a tune on a Swiss music box after striking the hours and half-hours. There are two kinds of movements: one-day (30-hour) and eight-day clockworks. The cuckoo bird is activated by the clock movement as the clock strikes by means of an arm that is triggered on the hour and half hour. They have an automaton of a bird that appears through a small trap door when the clock strikes. The classical or traditional type includes two subgroups the carved ones, whose wooden cases are decorated with leaves, animals, etc., and a second one with cases in the shape of a chalet. Many are made in the "traditional style", which are made to hang on a wall. The design of a cuckoo clock is now conventional. It has become a cultural icon of Germany. Today, the cuckoo clock is one of the favourite souvenirs of travellers in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. It is thought that much of its development and evolution was made in the Black Forest area in southwestern Germany (in the modern state of Baden-Württemberg), the region where the cuckoo clock was popularized and from where it was exported to the rest of the world, becoming world-famous from the mid-1850s on. It is unknown who invented the cuckoo clock and where the first one was made. The mechanism to produce the cuckoo call has been in use since the middle of the 18th century and has remained almost without variation. Some move their wings and open and close their beaks while leaning forwards, whereas others have only the bird's body leaning forward. 2006-013Ī cuckoo clock is a type of clock, typically pendulum driven, that strikes the hours with a sound like a common cuckoo call and has an automated cuckoo bird that moves with each note. Often called the Gen 4 Thunderbird, the new 1964 model was a solid success for Ford, selling very well. It’s a beautiful car, especially in convertible form, and has earned its place in Ford’s history. Its front-end was an evolution of the 1963’s bullet nose, giving the pointed front a new design language while the rear moved to innovative horizontal rectangular sequential taillights. Their sleek, chrome-clad elegance sold well from ’61 - '63, so in 1964, another new Thunderbird generation bowed, this time with more body styling, a formal roofline, and the same bulletproof 390 FE V-8 as its predecessor. The Thunderbird became the halo car for Ford, one which was key to their success, and became an icon for the burgeoning personal luxury market. After a threeyear run with the Generation 2 ‘Birds, in 1961, Ford steered the Thunderbird toward the personal luxury car market and enjoyed great sales for the next decade. Ford’s Thunderbird was late to the battle with Corvette for two-seat American luxury car supremacy when it arrived in 1955, but it brought plenty of undeniable style. Level IV is the least restrictive, which means that, although it intercepts high current lightning, it may not capture low current lightning. The protection radius of a lightning rod for each height is calculated with the advance time of the lightning rod and the level of protection against lightning (Technical Building Code, CTE the UNE 21186 standard NF C 17-102 and NP 4426). An ESE device with a longer lead time in the formation of the upward tracer (more time in advance of the ignition), captures the downward tracer at a greater distance, protecting a larger area. Interception: DAT CONTROLER® Air terminalĮarly Streamer Emission (ESE) air terminals are characterised by continuously emitting an upward tracer to intercept the downward lightning tracer before any other element within its protection radius. External lightning protection systemĪn external lightning protection system consists of one or more lightning rod ends, two or more down conductors and an earthing system. The following is a guide to design a comprehensive lightning protection system, based on Aplicaciones Tecnológicas S.A.’s recommended products. These maximum and minimum values are used for the dimensioning of the LPS elements (thickness of the metal sheets, current capacity of the surge arresters, separation distances against dangerous sparks), for the test parameters and for the positioning of the LPS sensors. The lightning protection level of a LPS considers both the lightning current parameters and the probability of not exceeding the maximum and minimum design values in the event of a thunderstorm. The lightning protection standards define procedures for calculating the risk index of a structure to determine the required installation of a lightning protection system (LPS) and the level of protection it should provide. The purpose of a lightning protection system is to capture lightning, conduct its current safely to earth, dissipate in the ground and protect against the secondary effects of lightning. Main conductors: Generally constructed from copper or aluminum, these cables are essential in connecting air terminals to grounds.Lightning is one of nature’s most destructive events, so it is essential to protect people, the environment and infrastructures from its effects, as well as guaranteeing the continuity of services and safeguarding material and cultural assets. When lightning travels through the system, it is then buried with the rods, effectively eliminating the chance of injury or damage. Grounds: The grounds are connected to metal grounding rods that are buried approximately 10 feet in the earth. They prevent any side flashes (electricity traveling between two objects) by grounding metal objects to the main conductor cable. Bonds: Bonds are essential for the control of electric currents. They work to intercept all lightning strikes, causing them to end up harmlessly planted in the earth. Air terminals: Also known as lightning rods, these copper and metal rods are mounted vertically on the highest point of a house or commercial building. Advanced systems, such as our Transient Voltage Surge Suppression (TVSS) system, can also help protect your valuable electronics and appliances against the sudden surge in electricity caused by a lightning strike.Īt Boston Lightning Rod Co., Inc., we carefully design our lightning protection systems so that each component works together to provide you with the most advanced protection available. Instead, they work to divert the energy from a lightning strike with a combination of lightning rods, conductors, and grounds. However, it’s important to note that these systems do not attract lightning, nor are they capable of preventing lightning from striking a building. Lightning protection systems use many functions to protect your property. These protection systems are designed to provide a specific path along which a lightning bolt can travel, leading the electricity safely to grounds buried deep in the earth. We are dedicated to helping you protect your home and your family with a custom lightning rod system.
